                                                 SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

SEO is an acronym for “search engine optimization.”

Search engine optimization is the method of affecting the online visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural”, “organic”, or “earned” results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a website appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users; these visitors can then be converted into customers.

Search engines are smart—they don’t like spam such as sneaky redirects and hidden text/links . As you’ll see later on in this article, Google owns a large percentage of online traffic. This means that appearing high up on their search rankings is crucial to any business looking for an increased web presence. For example: If someone were to type ‘online marketing’ into Google and your site ranks at number 4, chances are they probably aren’t going to look any further.

The whole point of SEO is to try and rank your website higher up on search results . This would allow you to have greater visibility and thus, more traffic and (more importantly) more sales! After all, it’s no use having a brilliant site if no-one can find it!

                                                 HOW DOES IT WORK?

As we mentioned earlier, Google is a search engine which lets people type in keywords into the search engine bar. However, ranking highly doesn’t only depend on the number of times that your keyword/s appears; there’s much more to it than that. Let us explain…

Off page factors: These include link , social media marketing and other non-SEO website factors (eg. web design, security) which influence how well your site ranks in search results.

On page factors: This includes meta data , meta keywords, layout and structure of the website etc.

So what does this mean? Well, it’s easier than you think! The secret to increasing your rankings is to focus on providing the best quality content you possibly can . Produce high-quality product reviews with plenty of useful information about a particular topic/product that Google will deem as relevant to users searching for information related to that keyword phrase/s. Thus allowing your website to rank higher on Google’s SERPs (search engine result pages). At least have ONE link on every page of your site back to a relevant page of yours.

If you want to rank for a particular keyword, that’s great! However it’s important to be as natural as possible with your articles/blogs and stay away from “keyword stuffing” which is where you’ll try to cram as many keywords into the article as possible . It sounds simple but there are plenty of people who don’t follow this golden rule! Remember: the more useful content you have on your site, the better chance your website will have of ranking higher on Google SERPs. This means that along with excellent quality reviews, make sure you focus on producing quality titles for each page too! A good title would include one primary keyword phrase and 2-3 secondary ones. You should also aim at including these keywords in the first paragraph of your article.

Links are like votes. The more links you have pointing to your website/page, the higher it will rank on Google’s SERPs. However, make sure these links are not only there for show (no-follow links). If they don’t pass juice (Google PageRank), then what’s the point? Sites like  Moz  and Majestic offer plenty of tools which will let you check how many backlinks a particular page has! An easy way to bring in some natural links is by writing guest posts for other people’s blogs…but don’t just stick your link in the author bio section! Make sure you write an engaging piece! Otherwise there won’t be much point doing it!

Titles and Meta tags are everything! Make sure you spend time on creating good titles and meta descriptions that include your main keyword phrase/s. If you don’t, someone else will!
